There are four magic carpet lifts to help beginners get up the slopes more easily with excellent nursery slopes in the Anayet and Sextas areas.

We can offer excellent “learn to ski� packages which offer high value all inclusive lift ticket, equipment hire and tuition for little more than the normal cost of a lift pass.

Predominantly a heaven for intermediates, you will discover dozens of wide open trails (most of the skiing id above the treeline), up to 3.2km long across the vast snoopy expanse. You can travel on from valley to valley at high speed thanks to the great lift network.

Popular descents include Lanuza and Sarrios. There’s night skiing at weekends when the slopes are lit-up in the Sextas area.

With almost 40 different black runs to explore and a wide choice of off-piste options including heliskiing, Formigal works hard to attract experienced skiers. The toughest run is arguably the 1.2km long Tubo Superior run number 66.

New Freeride areas have been created with off-piste itineraries through the Garmo La Mina and Glera de Anayet areas. Heliski is also available in for advanced skiers wishing to discover the best vertical powder descents in the Pyrenees on the snowy slopes of the Pico del Infierno, Garmo Negro and Argualas. The helicopter takes off from the heliport at the Sextas building, the main access point of the resort.

Alternatively a ratrack snow tractor is available to pull you to the top of the mountain from where you make your way down off-piste. This service is available in the Espelunciecha area with fantastic views of the Pico de Anayet and Balle de Canalroya.

The Cantal Terrain Park is a freestyle area for advanced riders with rails, obstacles and jumps. It is located next to a six-seater chairlift for fast and easy access. There is also a boardercross course and a bumps ski run.

Freeriders can take advantage of the resort’s excellent freeride zones or join the skiers in some heli-boarding or ratrack served powder boarding.

Alternative snow sports include snow-bikes, snow mobiling, dog sledding, a cross country ski centre and a snowshoe circuit in the Portalet area.

Formigal also boasts good spa facilities and heated swimming pools to provide a relaxing atmosphere off the slopes.

You can also visit local facilities in the area for example taking advantage of organised winery visits and wine-tasting, a round of golf on an Olazábal-designed golf course, excursions to the nearby La Cuniacha wildlife park or shopping trips.

Formigal has a usually lively nightlife, particularly when the crowds arrive from Madrid and elsewhere at the weekend. Bar La Luna is particularly popular all evening and The saloon is another good choice. The resort has a hotel based nightclub are there are also sometimes live concerts in the Sextas building.

Dining choices include French, Basque, Spanish and Catalan. Restaurants include La Cabaña de La Glera which serves barbecued meats, Serrano ham and local Aragon region specialities. For fast food La Cabaña de Cantal serves sandwiches and hamburgers.

Formigal's friendly atmosphere and high value by international standards are its two other big assets for visiting families. The resort’s nursery accepts children aged from 4 months old up to 5 years and is open from 8am to 7pm daily.

Supervision is available from a minimum of one hour up to a full week. The facility is unable to supply lunches but there is a dining room which children can eat packed lunches they bring in with them.
