Utah Approaching Record Figures As Ski Season Draws To Close
Tuesday, April 10th, 2007
Ski resorts in the US state of Utah have seen almost record numbers of visitors again this year, according to an expert.
Nathan Rafferty, president of Ski Utah, predicted that this season has welcomed close to last year’s record number of four million skiers despite the relative shortage of snowfall in past months.
According to KUTV, Mr Rafferty also pointed out that the skiing calendar is yet to finish and further visitors will be taking to the slopes for another two or three weeks.
The skiing expert said of this year’s weather conditions: "It’s no secret that mother nature didn’t fully cooperate."
In addition, it was noted that people taking ski holidays in Utah responded positively to some of the slopes being topped up with man-made snow due to a shortage of the real thing.
Some of the ski resorts still open in the state, which hosted the winter Olympics in 2002, include Brian Head, Deer Valley, Solitude Mountain and Park City Mountain while the opening date of Snowbird is yet to be decided.
