Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

Older travellers are among the most loyal to the snow sports, specifically in terms of taking regular ski breaks in the US, it has been reported.
A study by the National Ski Areas Association reveals that the average age of skiers and snowboarders in the US rose from 33.2 years during the 1997/98 ski season to 36.6 in the 2006/07 ski season.
Moreover, the number of visitors aged 65 years and older has nearly doubled from 2.4 per cent to 4.2 per cent in this time frame.
The study suggests that different regions attract different age groups too, with the Midwest retaining the youngest visitor base with a median age of 22 years.
Following this was the south-east which has a median age of 28 years, 32 years for the Pacific west, 39 years for the Rocky Mountains and a median 40 years for north-east.
The Ski Club of Great Britain has predicted snowfall in the US and Canada for the coming week.
