Snowy Resort Re-opens For Skiing
Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

While many ski centres have now closed for the summer, one US resort has bucked against the trend and is reopening this weekend (June 13th-15th).
Over three feet of snow is present on the top of Aspen Mountain and Aspen Skiing officials will be opening seven runs and roughly 45 acres of terrain.
The majority of the area to be opened is of an intermediate standard and will be located under the Ajax Express lift. Skiers and snowboarders can access the runs via the Silver Queen Gondola.
"It’s your typical early summer conditions. Better than a glacier, but not as good as a powder day. It will certainly be fun and is the perfect excuse for having a beer or two," Rich Burkley, vice-president of mountain operations, commented.
And for non-skiers who simply want to enjoy the sunshine reflecting off the snow, the Sundeck restaurant will be open over the weekend and will serve a barbecue lunch and drinks.
