Ski Resort Expands Into Year-round Holiday Destination

Fans of what Ski magazine dubbed "Skiing’s Biggest Secret" – the Silver Mountain ski resort in Idaho has announced that it is to expand the site into a top all-year holiday destination with the addition of an indoor waterpark.
The unique Silver Rapids attraction at the resort is set to open later this year and include the FlowRider Surf Wave among its attractions, giving you the chance to ski by day and enjoy a range of aquatic thrills the rest of the time.
In addition to the rafts and slides that meet with 60,000 gallons of splashing water, the resort is also constructing a golf course and apartment buildings to cement its position as the perfect all-year ski holiday destination.
Jeff Colburn, general manager of Silver Mountain Resort, said: "Silver Rapids marks the next phase in the resort’s development from a historic mining operation in Idaho to the latest concept in year-round destinations for outdoor and indoor sports."
He added that the resort will be able to offer holidaymakers the features of genuine destination resorts across the US together with the delights of its ski slopes to make the perfect ski package holiday.
The gondola at the Silver Mountain Resort transports 1,600 people per hour at 1,000 feet per minute and at 3.1 miles is the longest single-stage people carrier in the world.
