Night of Lights At Mammoth Mountain
Friday, December 12th, 2008
Much needed snow is predicted to fall in California this weekend, boosting cover. The area is one of the few in the ski world that has got off to a slow start this winter with limited natural snowfall.
Mammoth Mountain has announced the return of it’s popular ’Night of Lights’ at Canyon Lodge on Saturday, December 20.
The Night of Lights celebrates the magic of Christmas with a winter lights show set against the majestic backdrop of Mammoth Mountain.
The Village Gondola will take guests free-of-charge to Canyon Lodge for the fun-filled night complete with a firework show, torchlight parade, Red Bull Air Force skydivers and live music.
Following the show, there will be a free concert at Canyon Lodge by San Diego rock band Pinback or guests can board the Village Gondola for a variety of family festivities back at the Village featuring photos with Mammoth mascot Woolly and Santa will be there with special appearances by his reindeer.
“Hosting the Night of Lights has always been one of our favourite events of the season,” said Bill Cockroft, Senior Vice President at Mammoth Mountain and long time local. “This year’s Night of Lights promises to be the biggest ever.”
The Night of Lights originated two decades ago as an annual celebration of winter in Mammoth Lakes but hasn’t run for a dozen years until it was re-introduced last year to an excited crowd of thousands.
