Brits Flock To US Ski Resorts On The Strength Of The Pound
Friday, March 28th, 2008

Ski resorts along the east coast of the United States have reported an increase in the number of UK holidaymakers taking to the slopes this winter.
The Ski Club of Great Britain notes that it is not only Britons that are heading to the US for snowboarding holidays, as Canadians and Europeans abandoned their own mountains to ski on the US east coast.
One reason for the rise in popularity of US ski resorts was given as the strength of the British pound in comparison to the US dollar.
"Obviously, the demise of the US dollar compared to international currency [does] mean that we’re seeing a lot more visitors from other countries. And not just Canada, but a big influx from the eastern bloc countries and the UK," the Ski Club reports Tom Horrocks, a communications manager at US ski resort Killington as having said on the radio.
Killington is a year round ski resort that offers snowboarding and ski holidays on 200 trails over seven mountains.
