Verbier Now Open For Weekend Skiing
Monday, November 19th, 2007
The Swiss ski resort of Verbier has now partially opened for skiing this weekend, with the Lac des Vaux, La Chaux and Attelas ski runs now open on weekends until December 1st 2007.
Meanwhile, the cablecar running between Le Chable and Verbier is also functioning for those wishing to take weekend ski breaks from now until the end of November.
On December 1st, Verbier will extend its opening period to include week days for the remainder of the season.
Toby Mallock, commercial manager for the Verbier ski and snowboard school, European Snowsport, told the Ski Club of Great Britain that weather conditions at the resort combined the clear blue skies of April with a January climate.
"You can even ski all the way to resort easily, which wasn’t guaranteed last season and and the La Chaux area was also open," he added.
Winter sports fans are also sure to be buoyed by Mr Mallock’s report that Switzerland has seen its highest November snowfall since 1956.
