New 6 Seater Chairlift At Leukerbad
Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
A new detachable 6-seater chairlift will open at the Torrent ski area above the Swiss resort iof Leukerbad next month.
The new lift will greatly enhance the skiing at the resort, in the Valais region, which has been introduced by Thomson this winter, although it has been a famous spa resort since Roman times.
The lift is a replacement for the two existing drag lifts and will also result in the creation of a new blue, easy run. Unusually, this is quite badly needed as much of the resorts existing terrain suits intermediate and advanced level skiers.
Leukerbad is likely to remain as famous for its spa facilities as for its skiing however. Every day 3.9 million litres of hot water gush from 65 thermal springs at 51 degrees Celsius supplying 22 thermal baths as well as therapy fitness and beauty centres.
Facilities include a sauna village and a swim-in cinema.
