Engelberg To Stage World’s Longest Downhill Run by Torchlight
Sunday, August 29th, 2010
The Titlis Rotair company at Engelberg in Switzerland will sponsor the world’s longest downhill run by torchlight this winter.
The route covers 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) over 2,000 vertical metres from the top of Mount Titlis down to Engelberg. In recent years, Titlis-Rotair Cableway has invested 3.5 million SFr (2.5 million Euro) in snow-making machines on this route and neighbouring runs so that 41km of slopes are now covered by snow cannons (33km) or on the Titlis glacier (8km).
Participating skiers and snowboarders will enjoy an evening meal at the Panorama Restaurant on Titlis and after their descent meet at the Chalet next to the Titlis base station for hot punch and coffee schnapps—and to brag about their impressive downhill feat!
