Monday, March 5th, 2007
An American skier has won silver in the Nordic combined event at the Nordic World Ski Championships.
Bill Demong won the medal on Saturday and has become the second ever American to receive a medal in the event and the first to do so since 2003, the Associated Press reports.
Mr Demong beat third place Anssi Koivuranta of Finland by 0.2 of a second in order to secure the medal, while German Ronny Ackermann took the gold.
"It’s amazing to have worked so hard at something and focused on results for so long and have everything just click," the Associated Press quoted Mr Demong as saying in a conference call.
Mr Demong added that his performance at the championships was necessary in order to build up his confidence.
Norway boasts a number of resorts which are tailor-made for ski holidays, including Hemsedal, Lillehammer, Beitostolen, Geilo, Skeikampen, Voss, Oppdal and Trysil.
Skeikampen is generally held to be a good family ski resort for those with younger children while Lillehammer/Hafjell played host to the 1994 Winter Olympics.
