Hemsedal Offers More Activities this winter
Saturday, March 13th, 2010
Norway’s leading resort of Hemsedal is offering more off-the-slopes activities this winter.
The resort operates the country’s only Via Ferrata course, which enables climbing alongside wires and bolted on to the mountain. It is an exciting way of climbing on a level many people can manage in safety thanks to the cable supports. This season Hemsedal is offering this activity in wintertime for the first time.
Participants (minimum of four) will take the Ronilift with snowshoes to approach the course which will be open on Wednesday and Saturdays between noon and 3pm. The price is NOK 495 per person and a lift ticket is needed.
Hemsedal also now has a toboggan run which you can tackle in the evening wearing a headlamp. The sledding slope is open every night when night skiing is open – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6pm.
A third new activity is an evening hike wearing snowshoes. A group rides the lift up above the tree line, and then walks down with snowshoes under the moonlit sky or from the light of their headlamps.
Open to the whole family the activity is available on Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to around 8.30pm and costs NOK. 395 per person with a minimum group size of four people required for it to operate. Again a lift ticket is also needed for the initial ride up.
