More Hi Tec Services For Dolomiti Superski Visitors
Friday, September 19th, 2008
Anyone visiting the giant Italian Dolomiti Superski region this winter will find an increased range of services available to them through their mobile phones.
The giant area which covers more than 1,200km (750 miles) of pistes across a dozen valleys and around 50 villages all on one lift ticket has long been a pioneer of the use of technology in the mountains.
Building on the success of the Dolomiti Superski mobile phone services (DolomitiSuperski.mobi), users can now use their mobile phone to plan a detailed itinerary including distances, times and altitudes of their routes.
To take advantage of the service users can download the ski maps of the twelve valleys from the Dolomitisuperski.com website to their mobile phones and within seconds they will receive itineraries and details of any alternative routes.
The information provided includes the lifts required for the route and facilities nearby such as mountain restaurants. The distance, altitude and an estimate of the journey time is also provided.
Other innovations include the option to use Dolomitisuperski.mobi to view webcams from the area on your handset, as well as useful contact details for accommodation, ski tuition or places to stop for lunch.
Users can even make contact with other skiers and snowboarders online through the Dolomiti Superski community and take part in the first annual contest for the best blog, or vote for their favourite mountain, restaurant or scenic view in the area.
