Monday, November 24th, 2008
The famous Italian ski resort of Madonna di Campiglio opened for the winter on Saturday (November 22) with fresh snow and new rails for boarders and freestyler skiers to enjoy in its brown bear themed Ursus Terrain Park.
The resort has already received 74 cm (30 inches) of snow, the most recent fall 34cm (14 inches) on November 13th. The snow is 45cm (18 inches) thick on upper slopes but only 5cm (two inches) at resort level.
The four new rails are rainbow, S-shaped , kinked and a C rail and the resort has also purchased a new groomer to help with shaping all the snow features.
Madonna di Campiglio’s snow link to neighbouring resorts means that you can also easily reach the additional terrain park and half pipe at neighbouring Folgarida, a key venue in the Snowboard World Championships that took place in the neighbouring Val di Sole and maintains a popular.
The ease of access around the whole area thanks to fast modern chairs as well as the natural hits in the woods are all additional attractions for boarders.
