Whistler Switching to Spring Skiing Mode
Tuesday, April 14th, 2009
With many resorts closing soon or already closed for the Winter, Whistler still gas three or four months of it long snow season to go thanks for the ski slopes on its twin glaciers on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
Indeed the resort will be the centre of global ski interest over the next few weeks as the World Ski and Snowboard Festival which attracts both industry leaders and fun seekers each year. This Spring it runs from this Friday April 17 to -26th.
“Spring just might be the best time of year in Whistler,†says skier Mike Douglas of the Whistler Blackcomb Pro Team. “â€You can ski powder up top, then après at the GLC at the end of the day in your T-shirt. The Nintendo Terrain Parks soften up and this year the Highest Level Park will be going until the end. Just as the snow scene starts winding down in mid-May, the Whistler Mountain Bike Park kicks into action. What more could you want?”
Whistler Mountain’s last day of winter operations is April 26th and Blackcomb Mountain continues through to May 18th. The skiing and snowboarding recommences on the glacier at Whistler Mountain from May 19 to June 14 (snowpack permitting) and it then moves back to glacier skiing and riding on Blackcomb Mountain from June 20th.
Detailed spring operation information, including specific lift access information and mountain amenities including food and beverage and rental or retail options will be available and updated weekly at whistlerblackcomb.com/whatsopen.
