Whistler Snow Depth Passes Five feet
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009
A foot (30cm) of snow in the past 48 hours has taken snow depths on Whistler Mountain past the five feet (150cm) mark.
The snow base is measured at 1650m/5445 ft (mid-mountain) on Whistler Mountain so will be higher above – where the ski slopes on the glacier stay open right through to August, and lower at resort level.
Whistler is currently in the middle of staging numerous international World Cup events in various winter sports including bobsleigh and biathlon as ‘test runs’ for the Olympics next year.
The resort has had a challenging winter for snow cover but conditions are continuing to pick up through February.
The resort is current recommending Fisheye and Bear Paw runs on Whistler Mountain and Rock n’ Roll and Panorama runs on Blackcomb mountain as some of the best to enjoy.
