Try Speed Skiing For Free In Paradiski This Week
Saturday, February 13th, 2010
Those inspired by the current Olympic Games in Vancouver don’t need to travel so far to reach high speed on skis thanks to the staging of a spectacular speed-skiing challenge open to all skiers of the required ability level, which takes place this week in the huge French Paradiski resort, which links the giant ski areas of Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry to La Plagne via the double-decker Vanoise Express cable car.
Xavier Cousseau, the world speed-skiing champion, will be organizing the challenge in a drive to raise public awareness about speed-skiing safety.
It’s free to take part but skiers must have at least the three-star (étoiles) certificate to prove their ability from the French Ski school. Speed skiing kit is available on loan and a diploma recording their speed achieved awarded to each participant. For more information see www.skiadonf.com
The event kicks off in Champagny-en-Vanoise, party of the La Plagne sector, on Tuesday 16th, then moves to Peisey-Vallandry on Wednesday 17th February before a stage at Plagne-Montalbert on Thursday 18th February and finishes at Montchavin-les Coches, also on the La Plagne side, on February 19th.
The following week the action shifts to Les Arcs with The “LesArcs Session,†a massive night-time freestyle show featuring the region’s best riders above Arc 1800 on Wednesday, 24th February.
