Snow Machines Set For Resorts
Monday, August 11th, 2008

Hours spent checking the weather forecast before choosing where to take a ski holiday could be a thing of the past if new technology proves to be a success.
The Vacuum Ice Maker equipment is set to make its debut on the slopes of Zermatt and Pitztal this October, with the resorts hoping that the machine will be able to offer them guaranteed snow.
Dr Hans Rubatscher, chairman of Pitztal Glacier Resort, said that the new addition will ensure that the ski season starts on time.
"This 1.5 million euro investment will complement existing snowmaking systems by covering slopes that so far had to rely exclusively on natural snowfall," he explained.
In other ski holiday news, French company Holiski has released details of a new pass that will allow skiers access to ten high-altitude resorts in the Alps region, without having to check in at cash desks.
