Improvements At Igls By Innsbruck
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008
The Patscherkofel ski area at Igls above Innsbruck, which hosted ski events at the Olympics, has seen a major investment to upgrade the area, which is one of eight around the capital of the Tyrol, all included on the joint-area Olympic ski pass.
The Patscherkofel has installed an advanced snow making system with a snow pond to collect rain and melt-water for recycling back in to snow.
For families the kids park has a magic carpet (conveyor-belt lift) for the youngest users and a new training lift for slightly older children.
Sticking to its Olympic competitive heritage, for the most advanced children, there’s also a new ski and training centre with a new t-bar lift and race ski run.
Children 10 and under also ski free when accompanied by a paying parent – bring family-ID.
At the top of the ski slopes a new panorama restaurant with sun terrace has opened whilst in the valley station a new building with Intersport shop, rental and service, has opened.
