Glacier Bike Downhill in Saas Fee
Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Saas Fee in Switzerland has one of the highest ski slopes in Europe and a glacier which opens through much of the summer.
But the resort offers more than just snow sports this Sunday 29th March, daring men and women will hurl themselves down the mountain from 3,500 metres above sea level on their bikes in the annual Glacier Bike downhill.
The race start will be directly next to the Allalin revolving restaurant. The finish is the Kalbermatten sports ground.
So far 130 bikers have already registered for this daredevil descent on two wheels and for those who just want to watch, the Glacier Bike Downhill guarantees a spectacle on snow and ice.
“Anyone who falls has lost out. Anyone who brakes too much has likewise.†Said a Saas Fee spokesperson.
The excitement begins at the start of the race: after a start en masse, the participants must race to their vehicles, which results in enthralling battles for position in the first half of the race.
