The world’s highest gondola lift has officially been opened in China.
According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, the lift will be used to transport visitors to the Aba Great Glacier in the Sichuan province.
Rising a record 4,843 metres above sea level, the lift is capable of carrying 800 people every hour and is not a journey to be undertaken by the faint-hearted.
Around two million people reportedly visit the area annually and the lift is said to take almost ten minutes to make its full ascent.
The Sichuan region of China boasts some of the country’s best ski resorts, most notably the Chengdu Xiling Snow-capped Mountain Ski Resort, which features China’s largest snow park, according to Dreams Travel.
Meanwhile, for those considering a skiing holiday, About.com names some of China’s best resorts as the Alshan Alpine skiing resort, the Beijing Nanshan International Ski Slope and Resort and the Changchun Beidahu Ski Resort.
