Writer Lines Up Ski Calendar

If a winter ski holiday is on the cards, deciding where to go can depend largely on what month you choose to depart.
With this in mind, the Telegraph’s Peter Hardy has compiled a list of the best locations to go to maximise weather conditions and the best snow of the year.
November ski trips can be "surprisingly rewarding", Mr Hardy claims, with glaciers providing fresh powder and enjoyable lengthy runs in Swiss resorts such as Zermatt and Tignes in France.
Once December rolls around, travelling to the US or Canada is a much safer bet for a good snowfall and a potentially ideal Christmas ski holiday, he adds, recommending locations such as Beaver Creek, Copper Mountain and Whistler.
The popularity of Courcheval and Kitzbuhel remain in January, but alternatives can be found in Japan or North America; February sees "the best snow of the winter" although it is imperative to book ahead and avoid disappointment, Mr Hardy concludes.
