Wednesday, February 21st, 2007
The ski resort of Whistler is enjoying an above average snowfall – with three months of the ski season yet to go – it has been revealed.
According to First Tracks magazine, Whistler Blackcomb has exceeded its annual average snowfall, having received 1,026 centimetres of snow so far compared to the annual average of 1,006 centimetres.
It was recently reported by ski sales consultant at Alpine Answers Jessica Sales that skiers are increasingly heading to North America and Canada for their ski holidays as the snow conditions tend to be superior.
"Whistler’s geographical location in British Columbia’s Coast Mountain range is the perfect position to receive significant snowfall from precipitation generated over the Pacific Ocean," Stuart Rempel, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Whistler Blackcomb told First Tracks.
"This year has been a banner year to date, starting off with a record 416 centimetres or 164 inches in the month of November alone."
Whistler is regularly ranked as the world’s best ski resort due to its vast expanse of terrain and consistent snow covering.
There are two main peaks in Whistler, Whistler Blackcomb and Whistler Mountain over which there are spread 200 runs the longest of which being 11 km in length.
