Three Kings Arrive On Skis At Formigal
Friday, January 9th, 2009
Children staying in the Spanish ski resort of Formigal which is a new destination for British skiers this winter, received some very special visitors today, January 6th, the three kings.
In a Spanish take on the nativity story, rolled in to traditions of Hogmanay in Scotland and Christmas Eve in Europe there were gifts for those who had been good all year, and lumps of coal were reported to be ready for those the wise men deemed had been naughty, although ion the event none was needed.
The kings named Melchior, Caspar and Balzazar enjoyed arrived on skis and enjoyed sunny blue skies. Excited children queued up to collect their presents.
Traditions in Spain are somewhat different from those in the UK and children typically receive their gifts from the Three Wise Men rather than Father Christmas, although the oriental trio are noticing an increase in competition from Santa.
“We have been very impressed with the behaviour of the children this year, especially in the areas of eating properly and going to bed early.†said Baltazar.
