Sustainable Skiing

Those interested in how they can make their ski holidays as green as possible may be interested in a series of new seminars that have been announced by the Ski Club of Great Britain.
In conjunction with sustainable travel group The Travel Foundation, the Federation of Tour Operators and Ski Andorra, a pack detailing ways in which people involved in skiing and snowboarding can reduce their impact on the environment have been created.
Those taking ski breaks in Andorra between February 27th and 29th will be able to attend a series of seminars in regards to the Sustainable Snowsports scheme, where the packs will be available.
"We hope that these useful Sustainable Snowsports packs will give those who work at winter sports resorts a greater insight into how easy it is to make changes to their operations that benefit the environment," commented Sue Hurdle, chief executive of The Travel Foundation.
She added that the information could help skiers, hoteliers and restaurateurs save not only electricity and water but "a substantial amount of money".
Skiers can look to the Ski Club of Great Britain for advice as to which ski resorts are more "green" than others.
