Snowfall Aids Lake Tahoe Skiers
Monday, February 12th, 2007
Around 20 inches of snowfall over the weekend has given a lift to ski operators and travellers on ski holidays in the Lake Tahoe area, it has been reported, with further snow forecast to fall in the early part of this week.
Prior to this snowfall, the Associated Press notes the local Alpine Meadows ski resort in the area had 20 per cent of its terrain closed, with these slopes being re-opened following the storms.
Speaking to the Reno Gazette-Journal, Rachel Woods, a spokesperson for the firm, said: "I couldn’t get over how hard it was snowing.
"I think everybody felt like they were skiing inside a snow globe. It was just a phenomenal day."
She added that this increase in snow levels was what was needed by the company and the entire area to improve the conditions, with skiers and snowboarders granted access to an increased number of slopes.
Alpine Meadows reports that it is rated one of the top US resorts by a number of skiing and snowboarding publications.
