Skiers Told To Prepare For Skiing Off Piste

Skiers told to prepare for skiing off piste
Britons who plan to indulge in off-piste skiing this winter have been issued with advice from one organisation.

According to Post Office, those on ski holidays are currently enjoying "excellent conditions" and heavy snow fall is "great news for winter sports fans".

And some holidaymakers may be looking to make the most of the snow cover by skiing off piste. Post Office has advised these skiers to check the small print of their insurance policies before heading off the beaten track.

Skiers are advised to go with a guide and to use caution when skiing off piste as there is a risk of avalanches in unmarked areas at this time of the season in Europe and North America.

"This year the conditions are very good. Many people enjoy the challenge of skiing or boarding off-piste but it carries more risk so most travel insurance policies require the policyholder to be accompanied by a qualified guide or instructor when going off-piste," head of travel services at the company Helen Warburton commented.

She added that skiers should be aware of potential hazards underneath the deeper snow and to be "fully prepared" on the mountain.

Other fun activities those on ski holidays can engage in include heli-skiing, speed skating and snowmobiling.
