Skiers Getting Safety Conscious

Skiers getting safety conscious
Safety is becoming ever more important to those on ski holidays, with more skiers and snowboarders wearing helmets while on the piste, one commentator has observed.

According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, both children and adults on ski and snowboarding holidays are wearing the equipment to protect themselves.

It also claims that ski helmet use in the US has grown to more than 40 per cent in the last five years from 25 per cent prior to that.

The Ski Club of Great Britain reports that according to Norwegian scientists, of 3,277 skiers and boarders surveyed 578 had suffered head injuries – 60 per cent of which could have been avoided by using a helmet.

National Ski Areas Association recently held its ninth annual National Safety Awareness Week.

"Safety remains a top priority throughout the season for ski resorts," NSAA president Michael Berry commented.
