Scotland Sees Snow
Friday, January 11th, 2008

Thousands of people are expected to have taken to the slopes in Scotland for ski breaks by this weekend, it has been reported.
According to the Associated Press, Glenshee Ski Centre expects to reach the total of 8,000 skiers - a figure that represents the total number of people who took ski breaks to the region for the entire season last year.
Last month, the Association of British Travel Agents predicted that the 2008 ski season would be one of the best seen for a number of years.
Meanwhile across the Atlantic, commentators have been remarking on the "record" week seen at British Columbia ski resorts.
The Vancouver Sun reports that resort officials at Whistler Blackcomb reported that their numbers were "significantly" higher this year than in 2007.
"People have just come from Melbourne, where it’s 40 degrees [Celsius] and there’s bucketloads of snow here so they’re pretty excited," Big White senior vice-president Michael Ballingall told the publication.
