Tuesday, December 30th, 2008
A new on-slope venue has opened at Spain’s Formigal ski centre, which began welcoming British visiors on package tour for the first time shortly before Christmas.
The Iglu Bar, a ski-in, ski-out venue on the slopes with a large outside terrace and live music performances serves a range of food from cold snacks including sushi, duck and ham.
The large bar is made of ice and while the frozen walls are cold to the touch.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, vodkas and champagne are also on the menu.
Formigal, in the central Pyrenees, is Spain’s largest resort and is now accessed by a direct flight from London Gatwick which takes two hours to reach the regional airport of Huesca. From there a snow bus makes a 75 minute transfer to the sunny slopes of Formigal.
