Friday, February 23rd, 2007
Active holiday provider Neilson has announced its intention to open its Swedish resorts for an extra week this season, giving those who have not yet booked a further opportunity to experience a ski holiday this year.
Neilson reports that it is keeping the two ski resorts of Are and Vemdalen open in order for skiers to enjoy the "excellent late season conditions that Sweden is famous for".
Are has a mixture of ski areas which cater to both beginners and the more advanced skiers.
Central Are is the largest ski area with several lifts to choose from at a range of grades. Are Bjornen is more suitable for family ski holidays, as is Tegefjall.
In the Are region there are a total of 103 pistes, ten of which are at beginner level, 39 intermediate, 43 advanced and six expert.
The lift system consists of 40 lifts, the majority of which are T-bars, the resort also features a gondola, cable car and funicular.
