National Safety Awareness Week Takes To The Slopes
Thursday, January 24th, 2008

This week ski resorts in the US are taking part in National Safety Awareness Week.
Those on ski holidays in North American ski resorts will have the opportunity to take place in important and fun safety week activities, the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) reports.
Activities taking place during the week focus on the seven points of the Your Responsibility Code, which the NSAA claims are "key elements" of staying safe while on skiing andsnowboarding holidays.
"Safety remains a top priority throughout the season for ski resorts and Safety Awareness Week is an opportunity for both guests and employees to gain a better understanding of the importance of personal responsibility on the slopes," NSAA president Michael Berry remarked.
The top seven tips to remaining safe on the slopes include keeping control, skiers in front have the right of way, stop in a place that is safe for you and other skiers and yield to those uphill when starting downhill or merging.
Skiers are also advised to prevent equipment from running away, to observe signs and warnings, to stay away from closed trails and to use the lifts safely.
