Lipstick Blondes Look To Scale Highest Ski Peak In The World
Monday, July 2nd, 2007
While many of us look to push ourselves that bit more when on a skiing holiday, a group of plucky British ladies are aiming to go a little further than most.
The four girls, who dub themselves the "Lipstick Blondes", are aiming to scale Mustagata, a mountain hidden in a secluded part of China that stands 7,500 metres tall.
One of the four, Suzy Madge, 34, told the Metro newspaper: "We want to show people you don’t need an icicle-encrusted beard to do this stuff."
The girls describe ski mountaineering as a "fabulous sport" that mixes endurance abilities with a rush of adrenaline.
After topping the peak, Suzy, together with sister Carole and friends Ali Bainbridge and Squash Falconer, will ski or snowboard down the mountain, becoming the first female team to ever achieve this feat.
The Lipstick Blondes report that the BBC will show a three minute film of the girls’ return from the mountain.
