Kiss A Moose In Ã…re
Monday, January 19th, 2009
Åre in Sweden, Scandinavia’s largest resort, has launched a new children’s Snowflake Club (snöflingeklubben) for the 2008-9 season.
This offers child-minding for young ones when their parents want to take to the pistes alone, making the resort more family-friendly than ever before. Activities range from storytelling and drawing to tobogganing and snowman making as well as ski lessons.
The existing children’s ski area in Åre Björnen, a bus ride away from the resort’s other village bases, has also been expanded and the Björnlandet and Vildmarksstigen theme parks are adding more attractions for younger guests.
Other attractions for families off the slope include the Moose Garden (www.moosegarden.com) where children have the chance to ‘kiss a moose’ or the chocolate factory (www.fjallkonfekt.se), which makes hand-made chocolates using local flavours such as blueberries and cloudberries as well as more exotic flavours such as saffron or chilli.
