How To Enjoy A Green Ski Holiday

How to enjoy a green ski holiday
Snow sports lovers have been offered a series of tips on how best to enjoy "green" ski holidays.

According to Natural Choices, figures from Direct Line show that new resorts in eastern Europe and North America are becoming increasingly popular among Brits taking ski breaks.

The website notes that for eco-conscious skiers there are a number of ways in which to minimise environmental impact during a ski holiday.

"The Alps are nice and local and with their wide range of resorts you can do a life time of skiing in just the Haut Savoy," Natural Choices recommends in terms of minimising one’s carbon footprint.

It also notes that there are a number of "green" ski resorts recommended by the Ski Club of Great Britain, such as Alpbach, Kaprun and Kitzbuhel in Austria which all implement recycling, green power use, traffic reduction and properly managed sewage schemes as well as a climate and green building policy.

According to Natural Choices, Val Thorens’ lifts are entirely powered by renewable hydro energy while the resort has also planted more than 200,000 trees in the last 20 years.
