Formigal’s Opening Earliest for 15 Years
Monday, November 17th, 2008
Following recent heavy snowfall, Spain’s largest ski resort of Formigal opened on Saturday (15 November).
The resort is newly available through leading UK tour operators this winter with tours beginning next month.
Staff at Formigal have been working at full speed preparing 63km of slopes. Work will continue to open the total resort area of 137km by the coming weekend.
Other resorts in the Pyrenees in Spain, France and Andorra are also reporting superb snow conditions.
Baqueria Beret has also opened but ski resorts in Andorra and France do not expect to open early despite the great snow.
Most expect to open the weekend of November 30/December 1 or the following weekend and are confident that accumulated snow in the meantime will provide a great base when they do open.
