Food And Flurries On Ski Holidays In Japan
Monday, July 7th, 2008

Ski holidays in Japan are fast growing in popularity, both in terms of snow quality and cuisine.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that popular stereotypes of Japanese ski holidays are of cheap lift passes, lack of queues and amazing powder snow.
According to the publication popular ski resorts in Japan include Niseko, Hakuba, Shiga Kogen and Nozawa Onsen.
The blog also notes that while Niseko may lack the "steeps and chutes" of Blackcomb glacier in Whistler, North America, its major plus point is "powder and lots of it" with up to 14 metres of snow falling there each season.
Tourists can also enjoy a wide selection of restaurants and bars in addition to night skiing and English speaking ski instructors.
Niseko is comprised of seven ski areas, including Niseko Mt Resort Grand Hirafu, Niseko Higashiyama, Niseko Annupuri, Niseko Hanazono, Niseko Moiwa and Niseko Weiss.
