Brits Head To The Slopes This Valentines Day
Friday, February 8th, 2008

Britons heading off on romantic ski holidays this month in celebration of Valentine’s Day have been offered tips on how to make the most of their money while abroad.
Nationwide Building Society has given couples advice on how to avoid unnecessary charges while using their card overseas.
The building society noted that between the months of November to March is the most popular time of the year to take ski breaks and that the number of Brits now enjoying ski or snowboard snowboarding holidays has risen to over 1.3 million.
It listed Chamonix, Zermatt, Val d’Isere and Verbier as the four most popular ski resorts in Europe.
"With over 1.3 million UK people hitting the slopes last year and £34,000 being wasted in just four European ski resorts … we would advise people to check any slip or bill before signing, or entering their PIN," commented Nationwide director, Jeremy Wood.
He noted that some cards issue charges for overseas withdrawals and that one in ten Brits treat their partner to a romantic break each year.
