After a relatively slow start to the ski season, a strong snowfall has hit the slopes of the Alps.
Resorts across France have received constant snowfall this week, with a covering of 40 cm reaching the Alp resorts of Serre Chevalier and the Three Valleys on Wednesday night.
According to the Times, skiers in Val d’Isere regard this Wednesday to be the best day of the ski season so far.
"No matter how many years you have skied, you never fail to enjoy powder days like today," commented Kit Harrison, a chalet firm owner.
"It’s like being a kid in a sweet shop, you just can’t stop smiling."
A number of other French resorts have seen improved ski conditions; snow in Les Arcs measured 40 cm, while Villard-de-Lans reopened for skiing after receiving a 50 cm fall, according to the BBC.
Other countries in Europe to benefit from recent snowfalls include Germany, Switzerland and Norway.
