Verbier Makes Most Of Early Snowfall

Last week the Swiss ski resort of Verbier opened for weekend skiing - and following further November snowfall it is now due to open many runs for seven-day skiing ahead of schedule.

Originally, Verbier was scheduled to open for week-long ski holidays from December 1st, however the Ski Club of Great Britain reports that a number of pistes will now remain permanently open from this weekend.

Among the areas open for snow-sport fans of snowboarding holidays and ski breaks are Lac des Vaux, Attelas and La Chaux.

The Ski Club reports that 60 cm of snow fell on Verbier’s upper slopes this week, resulting in the opening of ski runs located further down the mountain.

Meanwhile, Verbier’s Verbinet website notes that the highest European resort, Val Thorens, has seen between 50 and 70 centimetres of snow in the last fortnight with the lifts of Funitel de Peclet, Cascades and Portette now open for skiers.
