Vaujany Launches Contest To Find Green Development Ideas
Monday, November 30th, 2009
French resort Vaujany has launched a competition to think of new ideas to ,make the resort more environmentally friendly.
Vaujany, which shares the giant ski area of Alpe d’Huez above, is largely powered by a giant hydro-electric power plant, income from which has been spent on lifts and other ski infrastructure at the traditional ski centre. Despite having a village population of 320,
Vaujany’s ski area investments including what was at one point the world’s largest cable car, capable of carrying more than half of that population up the hill in a single ascent. For visitors this also means lift queues are more or less unheard of.
Vaujany’s “Use you green cells” competition runs until the 10th of March 2010, which is the deadline for delivery of the projects.
The resort aims to reward the best initiative proposed concerning the environmental development of the village of Vaujany.
