Ski Resorts Expand Summer Offerings

While many of us are already counting down the weeks before we can head off for our regular France ski holiday or go skiing in Switzerland, some resorts are looking to entice us back rather sooner with an expansion of their summer offerings.
In light of our changing climate, a number of resorts are taking steps to ensure that you’ll still be interested in a good ski deal – even if the snow isn’t all that you might hope, the BBC reports.
Stephanie Ailet from the the Tignes ski resort, told the Beeb that it is vital to the area that it starts attracting more visitors during the summer.
"There are so many things to do in the summer as we have mountain biking, golf, horse riding and great walking," she said.
This summer the resort went a step further in offering fans of the resort the best of all worlds, importing enough sand to make a beach, which then hosted a round of the European Beach Soccer League.
However, the Tignes ski resort has less to worry about than most, as its high altitude has resulted in a reliable snow record, with The Good Ski and Snowboarding Guide for 2005 making Tignes one of only two France ski areas listed as "snow-sure resorts" for a ski holiday.
