Night-time Skiing In The Alps
Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Holidaymakers taking half term ski breaks in France this month may have been among the lucky Britons to have enjoyed moonlight skiing, one commentator has suggested.
According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, the last week has been an "ideal" time for night skiing in the Alps.
"We were rewarded with spectacular views of Verbier twinkling away down in the valley and great panoramas across the mountaintops," James Cove of the Ski Club recounted.
The Ski Club notes that while not promoted at many European ski resorts, night skiing is not against the rules at the French ski resort of Verbier.
Noting that skiers should be "extremely careful" due to a lack of rescue patrols and the presence of "piste bashers" grooming slopes, Mr Cove nonetheless observed that skiing in beautiful and quiet surroundings was "wonderful".
He added that while he took his head torch with him, the moon provided fantastic illumination.
Post Office recently advised skiers to be careful when skiing off-piste, suggesting they employ the services of a professional guide.
