New Chairlift In Tignes
Monday, October 27th, 2008
Tignes has already been open for more than a month this ‘winter’ having re-started glacier skiing on the Grand Motte glacier.
It is likely to remain the only French ski area open for another month or so yet, with the exception of a few weekend one-off offerings from Les 2 Alpes.
This winter the main improvement on the slopes is the addition of the resort’s latest six-seater chairlift, the Tufs chair, which replaces a smaller, slower lift and increases capacity on the route to 2,400 people per hour.
Down in the resort there are other new developments which are helping to make Tignes a little more classy. Firstly the resort’s first four star hotel, likely to be in the brochures next winter, will open. Les Suites du Nevada will offer all the luxuries and includes a spa.
A new gourmet restaurant will also open, ‘Cuisine a la Montagne’ will tempt all lovers of fine food.
