Major Resorts Opening in France
Thursday, November 27th, 2008
More of the big names in French skiing will open this weekend, joining Val Thorens, which opened last week, and Tignes, which opened in September.
Chamonix, Les 2 Alpes and Alpe d’Huez are amongst those opening, along with part of the Portes du Soleil region at Les Gets where discounted lift tickets are on sale.
300 lucky winners of an online competition that ran through October and the start of this month will enjoy exclusive use of the Espace Killy which links Tignes to Val d’Isere on Friday (November 28th).
During the weekend there’ll be special new season gear testing to start the season at Val d’Isere, which has some of the deepest snow in the country waiting – two metres (nearly seven feet) on upper slopes.
Val Thorens, which opened last weekend, reported the biggest snowfall in France last weekend with 75cm (30 inches) of snow was reported falling.
