French Ski Resort In Development Talks
Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

The French ski town of Avoriaz may soon become an independent ski resort if development talks scheduled to take place this April go well.
Morzine resort reports that a council meeting will question the future development of Avoriaz on April 3rd, following mayoral elections taking place this month.
A proposition has been put forward which would see Avoriaz developed as a ski resort independently from Morzine in a move that would see it gain more tourist beds to accommodate those on ski holidays.
Extra infrastructure such as roads and ski lifts would also be constructed.
Avoriaz was first developed as a ski resort after Morzine-based Olympic ski champion Jean Vuarnet developed alpine meadows into an alpine ski area, with a vision to create an eco-friendly resort with no cars.
The Association of British Travel Agents recently reported that despite the increasingly-high profile tourism and its effects on the environment is getting, holidaymakers will not be put off booking their holidays because of this.
