France Tipped As Most Popular For Ski Trips
Thursday, November 1st, 2007
France is a popular ski holiday destination, according to the PR manager for the Association of British Travel Agents.
Frances Tuke commented that Europe is by far the most popular place for British people to visit for ski breaks, with France a key location for winter sports.
"France took over because of the convenience and the sheer scale of the resorts," Ms Tuke stated.
Europe as a whole is the main place to which Britons look when selecting a ski resort, with Austria and Switzerland also popular destinations, she added.
"It is so easy for us to go to Geneva, for example, and you have access to so many resorts from there."
February half-term, meanwhile, was said by the PR manager to be one of the best times to book a ski trip.
An industry report published earlier this year by Crystal showed that 37.1 per cent of people who booked ski holidays through a tour operator went to France, with 19 per cent choosing Austria and 13.8 per cent going to Italy.
