France Continues Green Ski Efforts
Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Following the recent news that Chamonix has been awarded the ISO 14001 environmental standard for its environmental management systems, it has now been revealed that another French ski resort has also been making eco-friendly efforts this summer.
Tignesnet.com reports that in June, the Val d’Isere community made efforts to clean up its pistes of the rubbish left by messy tourists during the ski holiday season.
According to the news provider, a group of "enthusiastic" school children, lift company employees, local workers and "mystery volunteers" rounded up enough rubbish to more than fill two large skips.
And while a valiant effort from the locals, Tignesnet.com notes that skiers and snowboarders can do their bit by not dropping litter on the slopes.
The Val d’Isere ski season closed in May 2008 with a series of end of season concerts from May 1st until May 4th.
The Tignes and Val d’Isere skiing area - Espace Killy - boasts 300km of slopes 22 green runs, 61 blue runs, 46 red runs and 25 black runs in addition to 44 kilometres of cross country trails and two snowparks.
