Extra Safety For Kids On Courchevel’s New Six Seat Chair
Friday, August 7th, 2009
The latest six-seater chairlift being installed at Courchevel this winter will again feature the resort’s Magnestick system which helps keep children safe on the lifts.
Courchevel was the first resort to test and implement this new system and now has it installed on six key chairlifts that are most likely to be used by children.
The Magnestick system includes a magnet fixed on the back of the seat, while children in ski school wear a special back protection body armour which incorporates metal parts.
The magnet in the chairlift is activated when the chairlift is going up, so ensuring the child is safely magnetised to the chair. On arrival at the top, the magnetic force is released and the child disembarks.
“Courchevel has the reputation to be a pioneering ski resort, that’s why the chairlifts company (S3V) is interested in optimizing the children transportation with an innovative and reliable system.†said a company spokeswoman.
