Early Ski Season Action In France
Wednesday, September 26th, 2007
Those looking to enjoy a Christmas ski holiday or simply a ski break ahead of the festive season should turn their attention to Tignes.
Ski Club of Great Britain reports that the ski France resort is opening its glacier to skiers and snowboarders from Saturday September 29th for early-bird snowsports fans.
However, skiers are advised that winter conditions are not yet prevalent on the mountain and that only the glacier will be open – with the Espace Killy likely to follow suit in November.
"Early season skiing is becoming increasingly important for us and more and more people come to Tignes in the autumn," Stephanie Aillet from the Tigne’s tourist office told the ski club.
With members of the Ski Club of Great Britain reporting "fantastic powder" in October, conditions for early season skiing can clearly be enjoyable for ski fans, despite the existence of early-morning ice and early-afternoon slush on the glacier.
